About One Book One San Diego

Now in its seventh year, One Book, One San Diego has been a partnership between KPBS and the San Diego Public Library to bring together our community and encourage residents to join others in the shared experience of reading the same book. This year One Book, One San Diego is expanding its reach by including a new partner, the San Diego County Library. This means the community can choose any of the 71 city or county library branches to check out the book. One Book, One San Diego encourages participation in related events, discussions of the ideas raised by the annual One Book selection and examination of how these ideas connect with our daily lives.

San Carlos Branch Library BOOK CLUB

Saturday, June 1st, 2013

Have you always wanted to join a book club, but didn’t know how, or they all met at locations too far from your home?  Then this is for you!

Designed with an open format, the club will meet in the Community Room on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 12:30-2:00 p.m., and will include a variety of books, each one to be chosen by club members. Wanting the club to be more than simply reading and discussing, our hope is to invite authors, correlate crafts, and even compare a book’s movie if possible.  Please add your thoughts on these books to the “BOOK REVIEW” section of our website.

The upcoming book selections are as follows:

June  13: Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller

July 11: Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt by Beth Honeycutt

August 8: Defending Jacob by William Landay

September 12: Rules of Civility by Amor Towles

Extra copies of the books can be found at the library listed under Book Club, so pick up a copy today, and come ready to discuss them. Even if you can’t get them read in time,  you are still welcome to participate.

   HAPPY READING!
